The mare and the foal is still completely white. That gives a clean impression, but is not so interesting for the eye. To make these horses a bit more exciting to watch, I chose to create canes for a pattern to place on their bodies. I let myself be inspired by zebras patterns, as many people experience them as white horses with black lines. I created the pattern for the canes by piling white and black slices of polymer clay in an irregular way, then reducing the cane to a size that suited my small horses.
I carefully placed my black and white canes around their center bodies, both on the big and the little horse, smoothing the canes out out so that they fitted in the outline of the horses.
